Cedarwood was used by the ancient Egyptians to signify the eternal return, it was used as a ritual incense, its wood was used through the Middle East for temples and palaces. The wood because of its high concentration of essential oils meant it repelled bugs and fungus and was more resistant to decay. The Native Americans also used it in shamanic practices as medicine and for spiritual purification.
